Our dear Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Aunt passed away suddenly after a short illness on October 7, 2017 at age 88.
Ida was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, her parents Englebert and Katherine Spring, and her 6 brothers and 4 sisters. She was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan and raised on farms there and in Alberta. She left home at 18; moving to the West Coast along with her sister Mary and husband, Lou. Being fiercely independent, Ida soon found a job and lived on her own until she married and started a family.
Ida loved meeting people and getting together with family and friends and was always popular at parties account of her great ability to play guitar and sing. She listened to her country music right to the end.
Ida also loved arts and crafts and visiting many flea markets and Christmas craft fairs with her good friend, Roger Moore. She was well known for her dedication to keeping in touch with extended family and friends through thoughtfully written letters, phone calls and birthday cards.
She’ll be greatly missed by her daughter Beverly (Ross Deegan), Son Kenneth (Karen Johnson), 3 grandchildren, Kevin Aldridge (Lynne Campbell), Shawn Aldridge, Kaitlin (Maloney) and Dane van Heerden, 3 great grandchildren, Brayden, Blake and Brett Aldridge, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will take place on November 4 at 2pm in the common room of The Huntington, 5641 201 Street Langley.
