Alton, Howard Stanley
November 8th, 1921 - January 30th, 2018
“Howie, Dad, Grandpa, Grandpa Howie” passed away peacefully with family by his side. Predeceased by his loving wife Lorraine and his two brothers Cecil and Jack. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his two daughters Lindsay(Bob) and Mary-Dale, his granddaughters Dana (Chris), Carla (Josh), Laura, and Michelle (Don), and his great grandchildren Declan, Rhys, Carys, Lexi, Aaron, and Emily. Family was everything to him and we enjoyed his sense of humour, stories about his past and many words of wisdom. He was proud to have served in WWII in the RAF. After the war he married the love of his life Lorraine and they were married for 65 years until her passing in 2011. Howie graduated from UBC in 1949 with a Bachelor of Commerce and worked in the insurance profession until his 85th birthday. Sunday dinners, birthdays, Christmas celebrations, Easter egg hunts, and spending summers at the cabin were special times for Howie and Lorraine. Curling, golf, and playing bridge were big part of their life and they made many friends along the way. We would like to thank the staff, past and present, and the residents of Maple Ridge Seniors Village for their friendship with Howie and our family. We would also like to thank Dr. Larry Lim for his many years of care.
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face, and rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
