Debbie was born in Utrecht, Holland on August 13, 1957 and passed away in
Maple Ridge, B.C. on Saturday July 15, 2017. She is predeceased by her father
George Geesink, in 1995. Debbie will always be remembered fondly by her
mother; Allegonda (Connie) Geesink, sisters Georgette Allen (Bruce), Belinda
McDonald (Russ) and Connie Braithwaite (Glenn). Deb also leaves behind her
beloved daughter Christi, and Christi’s father Chuck (Charles Dennison). ‘Aunty
Debbie’ will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews; Charles (and his son
CJ), Daniel, Jodie, Megan, Caitlin, Jayme and Lucas. Countless others who had
the pleasure of knowing Deb will hold her memory close to their hearts.
In 1958 Debbie immigrated to Thunder Bay, Ontario with her family, before
settling in North Vancouver, B.C. in 1967. She attended North Vancouver Senior
Secondary and then Carson Graham Secondary School, graduating in 1975.
Debbie quickly developed a love for travel, which she recognized through an early
career with Wardair Canada Airlines. It was through this experience that she met
her lifelong friend Jean Hornstein. The excitement of world travel however, could
not compare to the joy she discovered when she became a mother in 1996. She
very much cherished the memories she made with her dear family. Taken from us
way too early, Debbie will be remembered for her enthusiastic spirit, ambition, and
enormous heart. We will never forget her infectious laugh, and of course that giant
smile of hers.
Debbie’s Family would like to acknowledge their sincere appreciation to the late
Kathy Paltrow for the support and encouragement she provided to Debbie for so
many years. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 pm on September 30, 2017
at the Maple Ridge Funeral Chapel, 11969 – 216 Street, Maple Ridge, BC.
